The collection comprises of 130 letters and envelopes, mostly from Gibson and beginning " Dear Arthur" or " My Dear Arthur". The letters are written during and after the building of Gibson's house. The letters describe problems and solutions with the building and upkeep of the house, and detail the relationship of a rich Maine vacationer to his caretaker in the early 20th century.
